“Well I have learned to a certain extent, so far as my weak nature is able to comprehend, to trust in God, and it is the sweetest and dearest lesson that I have ever learned.”

-Samantha Tryphena Brimhall Foley

This quote may compliment the Come Follow Me study, with the discussion item, “I can trust God.”

This quote can be found in the Woman’s Exponent, December 1, 1893.

Samantha Tryphena Brimhall Foley was born in Ogden, Utah in 1858. As a young mother, she and her husband were called to the Mexico Mission (in 1888 or 1889). On the way, two of her five children died from diptheria, and when she prayed for comfort and direction, she felt directed to study Spanish. She helped found the colony of Dublan in the Mexican province of Chihuahua, and remained in Mexico for several years, working as a teacher and acting as an interpreter. In 1904, she and her husband returned to Salt Lake where she studied to be a nurse. Upon completion, she primarily worked as a Spanish teacher and a translator. She died in 1948 in Rosemead, California.
